Pre-departure information!

Dear team Karimu,

We wanted to send a quick e-mail prior to the team departing for Tanzania – not long now! We hope that your preparation and packing is going well!

Just a couple of last-minute tips:
  1. Please do check the weight allowance for your flight/airline – it is usually around 20kg maximum for each holdall bag (2 maximum) + 6 kg for hand luggage. Please do keep to this allowance. It should be more than enough for all kit.
  1. Please do not to pack any boots on the outside of the main hold luggage. They almost certainly won’t arrive still attached!
  1. Please also pack a change of underwear, toothbrush (not paste) and any other absolute essentials in your hand luggage (medication, anti-malarial tablets), just in case any main bags go missing on the flight. It is unlikely, but best to be safe. We would also recommend that team members wear their boots on the journey, as this saves on weight in their luggage and means that if your bag is delayed somewhere that you will still have a pair of good, comfy shoes to wear.
Keeping in touch:
This year we have set up blogs for each group travelling overseas with us. You can find the Karimu team blog here http://karimu2013.blogspot.co.uk/ and your friends and family can comment on posts and (hopefully!) photographs. We will be updating the blog as often as possible with news from the team – at least every 2 days. You can view updates on our website http://www.inspire-worldwide.com/home/blogs#k2013. Please feel free to pass on these links to anyone else who you think would like to stay up to date with the team’s activities.
Trip Information:
You can find specific trip information and documents here http://www.inspire-worldwide.com/home/tripinfo This page has some key documents (itinerary, trip information pack, risk assessments) plus general Inspire information and our Emergency number – also detailed below.
On arrival in Tanzania Jess and Peppe, the Inspire Group Leaders, will be there to meet the team. You will then be transferred to the Agricultural Institute in Bacho (approx 5 hour drive), with a lunch stop on the way, where you will have time for a rest and some in-country orientation.

Please pass on the following contact details to your next of kin. If a member of your family or a friend needs to contact you urgently at any point please ask them to make a note of the Inspire 24 hour EMERGENCY number: +44 (0) 7531 872 658.

This number is manned in the UK 24 hours a day in case of any emergency situations where you need to contact a member of the team urgently.
For all other queries, please ask them to use the Inspire UK office number: +44 (0)1273 249 543.

If you have any last minute questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Otherwise we hope you have an incredible time and look forward to keeping your family and friends updated throughout the group’s time in Tanzania.

Best wishes, Kensa
